How To: Metallic Lips

The newest trend in the makeup market has been metallic lips. Several well-known brands have recently released metallic liquid lipsticks, which have the staying power of a liquid lipstick but the metallic finish that gives dimension and shine to the lips. Have you guys been drooling over the swatches of these new products on social media as much as I have?! They've been hard to find, as they're selling out fast! Don't worry- I'll link to some in this post, as well as give you some ways to replicate this look with products you probably already have at home.

First of all, Kylie Cosmetics. Kylie Jenner has created a brand of lip products that have makeup artists raving world wide. When there is a complaint about a newly released product, Kylie actually listens to her customers and improves the product immediately. Her metallic lipsticks have been selling out so fast, but I found one left here:

Another brand that makeup artists and makeup lovers alike have been loving is Wet N Wild. These metallic lipsticks have also been selling out immediately, so here is a link to one of the last ones currently left!:

If you are wanting to get this look with products you already have, you're in luck! There are a couple of ways you can achieve this look. The first way can be achieved with any finish of lipstick and your highlight of choice (or foiled eye shadow, just needs to be a shimmery powder). Once you have found these two items that look like they go well together, the application is simple. First apply your lipstick, then finish with your highlight on top! You can either apply the highlight all over your lips for full on glam, or for a more subtle effect, on the cupid's bow and center of the bottom lip.

In the picture below, I have shown step 1 on the left (Anastasia Beverly Hills, "Retro Coral") and step 2 on the right (I added ColourPop Cosmetics "Lunch Money" as my highlight).

The second trick I'll share with you gives a glorious and glowing effect. For this technique, you will need your favorite highlighter as well as a clear gloss. This is so simple: first apply your highlight, all over your lips. I do this with a brush or my finger (using your finger will give more color pay off). Next, apply your clear gloss on top. It's magical, I promise you!

Have fun trying out these techniques, and tell me what you think! What combo did you fall in love with??
