Quality Drugstore Highlight

While highlighting or "strobing" has been trending lately, this is a technique makeup artists have used for decades to achieve that glow-from-within effect. This trend has saturated the market, and there is no shortage of highlights to choose from. But these products are not straight up glitter, and they can't be formulated as such- some brands have nailed this concept, and others leave something to be desired.

The goal of this blog is to share hair and makeup secrets with you, and to simplify these trends and make them easy to adapt to. I have tried many a luxury highlight, and there are supremely lovely and expensive ones out there to be sure. The supremely lovely and expensive ones are what I keep in my bridal kit, to keep brides calm that the makeup I use is quality. However in my day to day use, I get more than a little bit giddy when I find a drug store dupe that is just as good, if not better than some of the high priced challengers.

My secret for you today, is this: the Physician's Formula shimmer strip highlight. This brand can be found in any major drug store, as well as on amazon.com. I used the Healthy Glow color for this look, which gives different shades of pink and a white as well. I like to twist my brush on top of the color to use it as blush, and then rub my brush into the lighter colors to highlight my cheek bones. And VOILA- highlight that will pop, last forever, and won't force you to choose between glowing and grocery shopping.
